Frequently asked questions

  • We place crew in all departments - engineering, deck, interior and galley. We can fill permanent, seasonal and temporary vacancies.

  • Once our Ts and Cs have been signed and returned, and we know the details of the position, we will find suitable CVs through advertising and our own database. We will then handle the reference and certificate checks, and further interviews, of candidates that are shortlisted for interview by the captain.

  • We charge 100% of a month’s salary for permanent positions, 70% of a month’s salary for seasonal (3-6 month) positions, and 30% of a month’s salary for temporary roles (less than 3 months). Payments must be made within 1 month of the crewmember’s start date.

  • We conduct thorough interviews, and once a captain has shortlisted a candidate for interview we check at least 2 references verbally, and verify relevant certifications.

  • Yes we can help with urgent and/or temporary placements, depending on how busy we are at the time! Get in touch (jessica@hellosailorcrew.com), and if we can help, we will.

  • We will provide a free replacement of a permanent crewmember if the placement doesn’t work out within 90 days of the crewmember joining the yacht.
