First mate, 50m+ S/Y

Hello Sailor are looking for a first mate

50m+ single season private sailing yacht

Start date and location: ASAP, in Italy

Itinerary: Refit in Italy over winter, Med cruising in summers with possible Northern European cruising in the future

Qualifications needed: Minimum YM Offshore, but ideally holding or working towards OOW3000

Skills needed: Must be a very confident sailor who is happy to step in for the captain when necessary. Great tender driving, in-boom furling and maintenance skills are vital, as well as excellent COLREGs knowledge.

Experience needed: 4 years minimum on yachts, with 2 years minimum on large (40m+) S/Ys

Details:

This well established 50m+ S/Y is looking for a first mate to join the crew of 8. The mate will be responsible for running the deck and managing the various toys and tenders onboard, as well as overseeing the deckhand and bosun. The mate should be very confident in their navigational and sailing abilities, and happy to step in and take charge when the captain isn’t up on deck. This is an excellent position for an ambitious mate looking for a Med-based single season program, working under a friendly captain who is willing to give the mate lots of drive and bridge time.
